Hello everyone,

I would like to start a discussion on the topic of “How to best organize IKEA Pax for storing shirts and blouses?” I am looking for the most efficient and clear method to keep clothing, especially shirts and blouses, wrinkle-free and well organized.

I am particularly interested in how to smartly design the interior of the PAX wardrobe to ensure quick access and maximum visibility. What are your experiences with drawers, hanging rods, shelf dividers, or special storage solutions within the PAX?

Are there any clever combinations that help to maintain order and protect shirts and blouses optimally—for example, to prevent them from hanging too tightly or getting wrinkled when the wardrobe is moved? I look forward to practical tips, including possible drawbacks of your respective solutions. Thank you in advance!

This is a great question – especially shirts and blouses require attention because they wrinkle easily.

What works well for me is a combination of several layers:
- A clothes rail at chest height that isn’t too packed, to allow air circulation.
- Below that, smaller drawers with compartments for folded blouses or shirts that you don’t want to hang.
- I also use wooden hangers, as they support the shape better than plastic ones.

Sometimes I have issues with too many pants or jackets hanging below, which then compress the shirts. A good interior setup with dividers helps with this – and I also make a point to declutter what gets pushed in there from time to time.

I understand that the issue of organization and protection is not simple, and for you probably even more so, since shirts are quite delicate. How tightly packed is your wardrobe? I could imagine that the depth of the PAX unit might also be a factor.

Hello JUFO3,

to answer your question systematically:

- Shirts and blouses should ideally be hung on clothes rails to avoid creases. The IKEA PAX system offers flexible interior fittings, such as rails at different heights.
- I recommend installing a middle rail for shirts and blouses that is not too crowded, so air can circulate well.
- For additional organization, a pull-out section with compartments is useful, for example for ties or cufflinks, which would otherwise take up space.
- There are also handy PAX inner bags and small drawer inserts from IKEA that can be used under the rail.

A proven method is to sort shirts by color or frequency of use. This saves time and keeps things tidy longer.

If you plan to connect several PAX units, I also suggest considering hanger clips or grips to prevent sliding.

Have you already thought about which depth of your PAX modules fits best? The 35 cm (14 inches) depth is usually sufficient for shirts but offers less storage space than the 58 cm (23 inches) version.

Oh, how exciting—I love reorganizing my IKEA cabinets again and again!

For shirts and blouses, I use sturdy hangers, preferably the slim, nice wooden ones. They hang directly on the middle rod of the PAX wardrobe, which I installed at a comfortable height. This way, I can quickly take out my favorite pieces and keep them wrinkle-free.

And very important: I don’t overcrowd the rod, because that causes stress when pulling items out and the shirts end up wrinkled anyway. It’s better to leave a bit more space.

Next to that, I have a small drawer unit with compartments, perfect for blouses that I fold because they’re delicate or can’t be hung at the moment.

I love how everything looks so neat, and it works really well. Of course, it takes discipline, but it’s totally worth it!

Always hang shirts and blouses on hangers, do not stack them.

Wooden hangers are better for maintaining shape.

Do not overcrowd; less is more.

A well-planned organization of the IKEA PAX system for shirts and blouses is based on two main principles: protecting garments from wrinkles and maintaining clarity.

- First, it is important to choose closet rods that are sufficiently deep and wide so that shirts can be hung individually with some space between them. Two short closet rods, one above the other, can help store more clothes without overcrowding.
- Second, internal drawers with compartments are worthwhile as an alternative to hanging, especially for delicate blouses that are better stored flat.
- Third, consider the material of the hangers: wooden or velvet-covered hangers support the fabric without causing pressure marks.

Another tip: color-coded storage elements or even simple labels help keep things organized, especially when managing clothing for multiple people.

Regularly reviewing how often items are used and removing those no longer worn prevents overcrowding and helps preserve the condition of the clothing in the long term.
