Hello everyone, I am currently planning to equip my Ikea Pax wardrobe with integrated lighting to improve visibility and comfort inside. I am especially interested in how to design custom lighting that is not only functional but also visually appealing. Are there specific LED systems, perhaps dimmable options or lighting modules, that work particularly well with the existing Pax components? Ideas for power supply, such as hidden cables or battery solutions, and tips for incorporating motion sensors would also be very helpful. How have you lit your Pax wardrobe or how would you recommend doing it? Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

I use IKEA’s own LED lighting for Pax. They fit perfectly and come with suitable controllers. Thanks for the tip, I’m aware of that. However, I often find the official solutions somewhat limited in terms of customization and rather focused on standard setups. That’s why I wanted to see how others handle it.

For retrofit solutions, so-called "Plug & Play" kits are also suitable; they usually come with magnetic mounts or adhesive pads and are easily expandable. That sounds very promising to me—maybe that is the best compromise between flexibility and simplicity. Does anyone have experience with such kits specifically for Pax and can share how durable they are over time?

Does anyone have experience with these sets specifically for Pax and can share how durable they are over time? I have been using a set with self-adhesive LED strips attached to metal profiles and wooden parts in the Pax for about 2 years. The adhesive strips lose their stickiness over time, especially if you frequently remove and reinstall the strips. Using small brackets or clips can help avoid this issue.
If you run it on battery power, make sure to recharge the batteries regularly, since motion sensors switch the light efficiently but still draw a small amount of power.
Expanding the system later is not a problem if you use a modular setup. Important: Check the voltage and compatibility of the components, otherwise short circuits or failures may occur.
What are the exact dimensions of your Pax, and which interior elements are you using? That way, I can give you more specific advice.

How large is your Pax exactly, and which internal components are you using? That way, I can give you more specific advice. My Pax is 150 cm (59 inches) wide, 236 cm (93 inches) high, and 60 cm (24 inches) deep. Inside, it mainly has shelves and some clothes rails installed. The main goal is to improve the lighting inside the shelves and better illuminate the area within the clothes rails without visible cables being a distraction. Thanks for the offer—I’m looking forward to your suggestions!
