Hello,
we are currently considering upgrading the windows in our basement and ground floor to RC2N burglary protection for our new build.
As I understand it, RC2N includes mushroom-head fittings and lockable window handles. The cost for about 15 windows is around 2,000 € (euros). Is that a normal price? I don’t think this can be done afterward, right?
How did you secure your windows?

That depends on what is included in the scope of work without that extra charge. Off the top of my head, I think the price is reasonable (for "RC2N certified," not just any standard).

For us, the extra cost was 1000 euros for 13 elements in RC2N through the builder. Features as you mentioned, including steel-reinforced profiles. We will choose RC2, so laminated safety glass will be included. Windows from the manufacturer who is certified for production and installation according to the standard for RC2. We are opting for this because of the corner location; if you can see it from all sides, I think RC2N is sufficient since the pane is usually not attacked.

Thanks for the feedback. So that means both should be done. Reinforced profiles are clear, but regarding the lockable feature, I’m wondering if it’s really necessary and if I would always remember to do it properly and take the key with me... hmm.

I would not want to give up the option. Whether it is actually used each time is another matter.

Question: Are you installing a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery? In that case, you usually don’t open the windows (except for the terrace), so you wouldn’t forget to lock it either.
