ᐅ Greenhouse – Affordable Glass Construction

I would like to have a greenhouse in my garden. I already have some ideas, and it would be great if it were made entirely of glass. However, using only glass makes it a bit expensive. Does anyone know of an affordable manufacturer, or should I build it myself?
How could I go about building it myself?

Hello Doran,

If you are handy with tools, building it yourself is definitely the most cost-effective option. Very inexpensive greenhouses often have poor workmanship, and after about a year, you usually end up frustrated.

If you have no experience in this area at all, you should first choose a poly film greenhouse. Once you have managed with that, only then should you consider getting a glasshouse. Furthermore, you should keep in mind that a greenhouse can be quite expensive, and if you only want to use it as a hobby, the costs might be too high.

What is the greenhouse intended for?

There are different types of greenhouses. The traditional greenhouse is made of glass. Then there are also polytunnels and plastic-covered hoop houses. Even cold frames, tomato houses, and even plant cloches are essentially all types of greenhouses. The choice always depends on the intended use. Additionally, the budget you have available to invest plays a role. I think it’s always a good idea to start small and not go all in right away. 😉
