Hello,

we are currently planning to build a garage. After some research, I would like to construct a garage using timber frame construction myself. The exterior walls should then be plastered to match the appearance of the house. So far, I have only found one supplier from southern Germany offering such a kit.

My questions are:
- Does anyone know manufacturers of garage kits using timber frame construction (no concrete and not a log wood garage)?
- Or is it the structural engineer’s responsibility to determine the dimensions and arrangement of the timber?

I have been looking for answers for a long time. Maybe someone here has experience with a similar project.

Thanks and best regards

System box or Uni box Saxony.
Just google it, both are available as kits.

Or you can go to the next carpenter and have them build the wooden stud walls including the roof frame. You can then assemble it yourself if you feel confident enough.

Hello,

thank you for the answers. The tip about Unibox products was very helpful. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I have already received an initial offer.
Regarding the carpenter, my second question was exactly about that. Who would be responsible for creating the structural calculations in such a case? Or, to put it differently, does the structural engineer specify that you need to produce elements with certain wood and measurements, for example...?

Thanks and best regards

The structural engineering is included with the prefab kits.
As a tip, get an additional quote from other suppliers. There was a significant price difference in my case.

Good evening, we are currently considering whether to build a carport or a garage. The option you presented also sounds interesting. What costs can be expected for manufacturing, delivery, and installation? We are planning for 4.50 m x 9 m (15 ft x 30 ft) including a storage shed. I would appreciate some information.
