Hello,

we are currently planning to build a garage. After some research, I would like to construct a garage using timber frame construction myself. The exterior walls should then be plastered to match the appearance of the house. So far, I have only found one supplier from southern Germany offering such a kit.

My questions are:
- Does anyone know manufacturers of garage kits using timber frame construction (no concrete and not a log wood garage)?
- Or is it the structural engineer’s responsibility to determine the dimensions and arrangement of the timber?

I have been looking for answers for a long time. Maybe someone here has experience with a similar project.

Thanks and best regards

@sven0924 I can’t estimate the costs based on your dimensions, but the providers are very fast and straightforward when preparing quotes. Often, you can submit a request with your specifications through their contact page on the website, and the quote usually arrives within 1 to 2 days.

Regarding the carpenter: A structural engineer must calculate the structural design. However, carpentry companies always work together with a structural engineer, and due to their extensive experience, their plans usually fit correctly the first time. Therefore, in most cases, the quote should be accurate. (There are always exceptions.)
