Is it possible to give or state a flat rate for structural engineer costs? Based on what factors could the structural engineering fees be calculated? Who has experience with this?

Looking forward to your answers!

Hello,

You can expect structural engineer costs to be around 2 to 12% of the total construction costs. It depends on the scope of services.

That means if my house (excluding the land) costs €200,000, will the structural engineer cost between €4,000 and €24,000?

Hello,

I would like to build a semi-detached house with a total of 2 garages, each 30m² (320 sq ft), a basement of 150m² (1,615 sq ft), a ground floor of 150m² (1,615 sq ft), and an upper floor of 150m² (1,615 sq ft). During my first visit to an architect, I received a quote of 8,000 euros for the architectural services and 4,000 euros for the structural engineering. Personally, this seems a bit high to me. I can’t really make sense of the HOAI tables and calculations. When I see values ranging from 4,000 to 24,000, that feels too vague for me.

What do you think, is this price reasonable?

Hello,
an architect is required to invoice according to HOAI.
The fee depends on the construction costs of the building and, as already mentioned, on the scope of services. Whether 8,000 EUR is a reasonable offer cannot be determined, as neither the construction costs nor the scope of services are known.

Hello,

can someone help again here: We now have an offer including a structural engineer and submission of the building permit / planning permission application for 10,000 € net. What surprises me is that the architect apparently gave a flat-rate offer without asking about the total construction cost. If I want to build for 250,000 € (approximately 275,000 USD), do you have rough estimates on what I should at least expect to pay here? Thanks for the help.
