Hello everyone,

I have been searching for a while but somehow I can’t find anything suitable.

Here’s the situation: we have attached a terrace to our house. To avoid damaging the plaster and insulation, we decoupled the terrace from the house. The wall beam is basically supported on posts that are about 6cm (2.4 inches) away from the house wall. Part of the terrace serves as a shed.

Now the question: in the shed, we would like to seal this 6cm (2.4 inches) gap. What do you use for something like this? Is there any swelling tape available in this thickness? Or some kind of mats?

Thanks in advance,

Fill with gravel?

No, it’s about the gap between the post and the wall. So vertically up to 2.50 meters (8 feet 2 inches). Gravel would start to spill out on both sides above a certain height.

What should it be sealed against—water or air and dust?
A swelling tape could then actually be a simple and quick solution.

Yes, water swelling tape was my first thought, but with 6cm (2.4 inches) I’m not sure what to use. That’s why I thought there might be some suitable alternative for such large gaps.

Well, why not screw a wooden batten or something similar in front?
