dear community,

i’m not really an ikea fanatic, but for many, many years i have had the antonius shelving system from ikea, which by now has almost turned into a small library. it’s the system with strips and brackets with shelves screwed on. nice and practical. now i wanted to expand the cd shelf and realized that the smallest brackets (ikea calls them “consoles”) are no longer available, which is a disaster. my question to you experts: is there any chance to still get such a discontinued product somewhere, leftover stock or similar? i would be very, very grateful for any tips...!

best regards from vienna, agnesz

Unfortunately, you can only try eBay for that.
At IKEA, it is not possible for logistical reasons to provide individual components or spare parts indefinitely for discontinued products!

Hello,

I also find it unfortunate that IKEA discontinues certain products entirely after just a few years, probably simply because they "don't sell well." This includes pieces that, in my humble opinion (trained carpenter, interior design student), were absolutely excellent in terms of design and craftsmanship. For example:

- Dining series PELTO Birch
- Dining series NYGARD Birch
- Chair SVANTE Birch
- Chair ROGER Oak/sand gray (now only available in black)
- Kitchen fronts ULRIKSDAL and RAMDALA

Such a shame.

Recently, however, I made a comforting discovery. At IKEA Switzerland, ULRIKSDAL is still available at least. Because of that, I reconsidered my suicidal thoughts.

My questions for those in the know:

Do discontinued IKEA products really vanish completely, or are they archived centrally somewhere in Sweden to remain accessible at least to professionals (interior architects, specialist retailers)?

Is there perhaps a way to obtain the original plans for reproduction?

Best regards

In Sweden, there is apparently a storage facility where items can be kept for a certain period (roughly 3 years). However, IKEA charges extra for this service, with a specific price list used to calculate the fees. The cost is based on the weight of the package. So, it’s not exactly cheap, but if there’s no other option or solution...

What I would really appreciate is if Ikea included a notice in their newsletter when they decide to discontinue an item. At least for me, planning a new interior setup takes a lot of time, using ideas from the catalog and the internet. Then, when I finally go to IKEA, I’m told, "Sorry, but this is no longer available" (this happened to me with the green sliding doors for the Pax system)... great... so I have to start planning everything from scratch.
I think it would be quite useful if this information could somehow reach the customer. A kind of early warning: "Hey everyone, we’re discontinuing this item, so if you want it, get it now."

SORRY, I just noticed there is already a thread about this. Please delete/move this post… THANK YOU

Hello everyone,

Something similar happened to me today. I went to Ikea to buy the Anemoda bed in white and the Hellum rug for my daughter, who has been complaining since summer, but both items are no longer available. They have simply been discontinued, and there isn’t even a comparable replacement model for the reasonably priced bed. My question is, is there a warehouse for discontinued items? I find it hard to believe that all discontinued models are completely sold out. Does anyone have a tip for me?

Greetings from Aachen
