Hello Aunt,
The company Bauwerk informed us that parquet flooring is generally not recommended for wet rooms (especially if there are children who might splash water more often), but it is basically feasible. It always depends on how you take care of the floor. However, using beech or maple for this purpose is not recommended at all, as these two types of wood react strongly to moisture, causing the joints to swell quickly.
I also considered the question of parquet in the kitchen. But in the bathroom, you have to be even more careful to avoid water splashes, and if they occur, dry them immediately.
If there is a real flood, the insurance will have to cover it anyway, regardless of whether the floor is carpet, laminate, or parquet.

Hello everyone – I would definitely go for it! Ultimately, it’s all about proper and professional installation as well as surface finishing (sealed, oiled, waxed). You should absolutely avoid sealed parquet! Only oiled parquet should be used, which might need to be retreated 2-3 times during the first year. We will be installing parquet ourselves on the upper floor (living area). On the ground floor (bedrooms, study, and wet rooms), we will use a seamless floor that will also continue into the bathrooms.
