Hello,

how difficult and time-consuming is it to install hardwood flooring? I have never done anything like this before. Or is it really better to hire a professional?

I have heard that there are more or less simple systems for joining the boards. I would recommend getting advice at a DIY store on which type of flooring you can really install yourself easily and which you cannot.

I had a really bad system. Installing it was extremely frustrating; after 8 hours, I gave up and called an overpriced professional. I don’t even remember the name of the system anymore. I only remember the guy at the hardware store saying, "Laying the parquet will be no problem for you"... well, that’s not how it turned out.

Yes, yes, the knowledgeable staff at the home improvement stores. Well, let’s not generalize too much, but it can happen that you receive advice that isn’t quite up to standard. I usually shop at specialist stores because I know I will get really good advice there.

*lol* – yes, our hardware store staff. They once told me that wall tiles wouldn’t be a problem, but I think I wasted €300 and spent an entire weekend on it.

Thank you very much for the tips, but they don’t quite help me enough yet. What should I particularly focus on? Is there a general rule of thumb?
