Hello, I need to drill a hole through an interior wall of a house with a timber frame construction. What is the correct procedure? Should I just start drilling through? Or how do I find a suitable spot? Thanks for your tips. Ashley

Hello,
Just a heads-up that this is an amateur opinion.
Wood frame constructions usually have mineral wool or similar insulation on the inside. However, there are often cables running through that cannot move far enough away if you happen to hit them exactly with a sharp wood drill bit. There are so-called installation zones (you can look them up). Otherwise, it’s safest to get a detector for cables and metal to avoid damaging anything important. Then, in theory, you can carefully start drilling. The interesting question, of course, is how large the hole should be and what you intend to do with it afterwards.

Hello, the hole doesn't need to be large. A LAN cable should pass through it. In my opinion, there are no power lines or similar behind it. Could there be metal or something similar there? Regards

Why not post a picture showing where you plan to drill? That way, it might be easier to help you!

Hello, here is a picture. I drilled in two spots but encountered harder material each time and was unsure whether I should force my way through.
White floor, door frame on the left and wooden door on the right; several dark drill holes on the floor.

Maybe you have come across a beam there!?
