Hello everyone,
I am considering using/acquiring a managed switch for the future home network.
In my opinion, it should meet all necessary requirements: Layer 3, routing, IGMPv3, VLAN without a router...
Does anyone have experience with this device or any other comments?
Best regards

So, the past few days have been quite busy. That’s why I’m only replying now.
Thank you all very much. Especially the latest posts were very helpful.
I’m now considering whether to take on the Cisco. The ES-24-250 from Ubiquiti also seems very interesting.
At this point, I’m curious about what you see as the advantage of the UniFi interface?
Thinking about my work environment, we have Dell, HP, VMware, and so on, so we repeatedly use a variety of interfaces: consoles, graphical user interfaces...
Ideally, systems run smoothly and don’t need to be touched again—except for firmware updates, or when something really needs to be changed.
For myself, I still can’t quite grasp the advantage of having a unified interface.

With Unifi, you also have centralized monitoring across your network.
Besides the user interface, the "configuration" is quite straightforward.
From the router to the access points...
That was the reason I chose to use it. However, I had already operated a few smaller systems before.
It's simply convenient.
Or you could go with the Edge series. Then you don’t have the access points managed within the same controller.
In terms of price and performance, Unifi is excellent. You can also make deeper adjustments via JSON, though I haven’t needed to do that so far.
I quickly ruled out HP and Cisco due to price and complexity.

You can get the Cisco refurbished for 350 euros. I’ve seen it new for 580 euros.
The Edge costs about 400 euros, and so does Unifi.
I’m really unsure about this. Ideally, I would just buy one device and see if it works with Magenta TV here in my apartment, and if not, return it.
But honestly, I think people who do that are really unpleasant.
So it seems I have no choice but to buy, hope for the best, and tinker if necessary.

So far, I have read that there seems to be a difference between Entertain TV and Magenta TV. The former uses IGMPv2, while the latter uses IGMPv3.
It’s also important to pay attention to the router/firewall settings. Some people in the discussions eventually ended up using the FritzBox. Apparently, the switch to IGMPv3 is still in progress. The Unifi switches reportedly did not support it, except for those from the Edge series. But as mentioned before, it’s best to ask directly in the "manufacturer forum."

Why insist on magenta and not Zattoo?
That way, you don’t need a box for every TV, etc.
You have to live with the system.
If you feel confident with Cisco, then go for it. I prefer centralized management. During the construction and moving-in phase, there’s already enough going on. Dealing with the technology on top of that is no fun.
I also like the backup function with Unifi. If something fails, you simply replace it and restore the configuration.

Why magenta tv is chosen is quite simple.
We have had it for about 10 years now. It is very convenient. Everything is integrated seamlessly. Streaming apps, TV, all in one. Opinions on this vary, but we have only had positive experiences with the telecommunications provider.
