Hello everyone,
After reading and gathering information here for several weeks, I am now ready to participate actively.
We plan to build a house of about 190 m² (2,045 sq ft) plus a double garage in Saarland in 2015.
For this, we have ordered some catalogs from national suppliers and also requested individual quotes. In the end, based on a recommendation, we found the regional company DHI Planen und Wohnen in St. Wendel. They work exclusively with local craftsmen and specialist companies and have built over 400 houses in the last 14 years.
If I understand correctly, I would sign a contract with DHI, who then prepare an offer for the entire construction project and purchase all the building materials. The individual trades are paid directly by me to the craftsmen (according to the offer that was included in DHI’s overall quote). This is said to have the advantage that in case of warranty claims, I can hold DHI liable (because of the contract with them), and if they become insolvent, I can still pay the craftsmen directly.
Has anyone here had experience with the company DHI or can share insights about this billing model?
Thank you and best regards,
Jochen

It was similar for us as well; since snow was expected and the ceiling still needed to be poured with concrete, there were 9 electricians working there.
The topping-out ceremony was quite a situation... I actually would have liked to do it, but the roofers started on Tuesday and finished the framework the same day. :O

Yes, at the topping-out ceremony I felt the same as Timo. They raised the framework one day before Christmas Eve and then left immediately :-(, I would have liked to have one as well.
Good morning everyone, those were some tough Easter days.
From Thursday to Sunday evening, the insulation for the underfloor heating was installed throughout the entire house.
At first, it was still enjoyable, but in the rooms (bathroom, guest toilet, and utility room) with many pipes, it was very time-consuming due to all the cutting.
But I’m glad we managed to finish it completely by Sunday.

Hello everyone, how is everything going with you? What’s the current status on your projects?
There hasn’t been any news for a while.
In the past weeks, the heating installers laid the pipes for the underfloor heating within two days.
Tomorrow, the screed contractor will start applying the flowing screed inside the house.
By the end of the week, he plans to finish the garage as well.
Best regards, Philippe

Hello,
today our precast ceiling panels were delivered and installed. Tomorrow, more concrete will be poured, and the electricians from Elektro Haupenthal will start their work. The windows have also been ordered from the company Blasius. Everything is now progressing quite quickly. Of course, the weather is cooperating well at the moment...
Best regards, Martin

Regards, Martin Aha, work at our site was halted for two days because the masons had to finish another house first, where the floor slab was ordered earlier.
However, the exterior walls of the upper floor are now already up at our place. The roofing sheets have also been delivered. It can’t be much longer now.
