ᐅ Naming of Ikea Furniture

Do you have a favorite name among the IKEA furniture? I recently read that there is actually a system behind it—for example, all office furniture is given male names and so on—and that there are people who work exclusively on this. It must be a funny job 😀!

That's true... Sofas at IKEA, for example, are always named after Swedish cities (Karlstad, Vaxholm, Stockholm...), and this naming theme runs throughout their entire product range 🙂

...well, I just can’t decide, the names are sometimes so funny. But “Idealisk” and “Hurrig” are currently my favorites 😀

And playing city-country-river with Ikea names sounds like a great idea too!!!

I think Erik is great; it really suits cabinets and similar items :-)
However, I believe that such a profession sounds better than everyday reality actually is. Just imagine, there’s a new lamp, a table, and a bed, and you have to come up with names for them out of thin air... 😱

It’s actually manageable since there are fixed rules for the individual product categories.
