Hello everyone, I am considering using the Ikea PAX wardrobe as a room divider in my living room. Specifically, I would like to know how stable it is, especially if the PAX is not placed directly against a wall. Are there special ways to securely fix the wardrobe to prevent it from tipping or wobbling? Also, is it better to connect several PAX units together, or is a single freestanding unit sufficient? I am also open to suggestions for securing it to the floor or ceiling if that makes sense. Thanks in advance for your experiences and tips!

Amazing, using Pax as a room divider is really brilliant! I did it with several modules and simply connected them together. Then I secured them to the wall – super stable!

For the floor, I used small floor brackets and screwed them in myself. It holds perfectly! If you need anything else, just let me know, I’m happy to help!

A single PAX unit without wall anchoring is not secure. Always connect multiple units and secure them to the wall. Floor anchoring is only advisable on a solid floor.

Hello sanpe,

I would like to add that when using PAX as a room divider, it is important to pay attention to load distribution. Especially if you plan to store heavy items or remove the back panel, stability may be compromised.

- Connect at least two modules together.
- Check in advance whether the floor allows drilling.
- Use metal brackets specifically designed for furniture mounting.
- Alternatively, heavy-duty weights (e.g., sand filling in the lower shelves) can provide additional stability.

The combination of connections, floor fixing, and weight ensures a secure stand.
