Hello everyone,

I am planning to get a new Ikea PAX system and want to focus specifically on which doors come with built-in mirror surfaces. There are various door options for PAX—some mirrored, some with other finishes—and I would like to know exactly which models or door series originally come equipped with mirrors.

I am particularly interested in:
- Which PAX doors currently come standard with mirrors?
- Are there different mirror effects or sizes available for these doors?
- Are these doors available as complete sets with mirrors, or does the mirror need to be installed separately?

It is also important for me to know whether these doors can be easily combined with the usual PAX carcasses and if there are any notes regarding stability or installation.

Thanks in advance for your help!

A few technical details about the mirrored door:

The mirrored doors of the Pax series usually consist of a core layer made of MDF or a similar material, with a glued glass mirror surface. The thickness of the mirror is approximately 4 mm (0.16 inches).

Behind the mirror, there is often a coating that protects against breakage and scratches.

During transport and installation, care must be taken to avoid any stress on the door that could damage the mirror.

Additionally, some newer models offer frameless mirrored doors secured with clip systems, which maintain a minimalist appearance but make installation somewhat more complex.

I would be interested to know whether you plan to use the doors more as room dividers or purely as wardrobe doors. This might influence your decision, especially regarding safety and stability.

Thank you for the precise question. Primarily, I intend to use the doors as traditional wardrobe doors. A room divider is not planned – the mirror is meant to add value in the bedroom, serving as a full-length mirror combined with storage.

The information about the adhesive and protective layer is helpful for orientation; I didn’t realize the PAX doors actually have such protective coatings.

Are there any experiences regarding how prone the mirrored surface is over the years with daily cleaning or regular use? I would at least like to know what care considerations I should keep in mind.

Regarding the durability and maintenance of the PAX mirrored doors:

The mirror surfaces have a protective coating that provides some resistance against moisture and minor scratches. However, I recommend the following:

- Do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
- Use only soft cloths to clean the mirrors.
- If there are children in the household, pay extra attention to the stability of the hinges.

Thanks to good craftsmanship, these mirrors will last well beyond many years if handled with care.

Another tip is to equip the doors with felt pads or buffers before installation to extend their lifespan.

Summary:

Ikea PAX doors with built-in mirror panels are mainly available as:
- White-framed mirrored doors
- Black-framed mirrored doors
- Rare frameless options

All come fully equipped with mirrors as doors, no retrofitting needed. They are compatible with PAX carcases and the recommended hinges are Ikea’s own due to the weight.

Care is the same as for glass, avoid using aggressive cleaners.

Sliding doors with mirror options are also available, if desired.

I have been cleaning my PAX mirrored door daily with a mild glass cleaner and a soft cloth for over 4 years. So far, no scratches or discoloration. It is really important not to apply too much pressure and to avoid abrasive cloths.

The mirrors seem durable and feel high-quality. If you have children, I would consider edge protectors, but otherwise the product is quite long-lasting.
