I will soon start building, and now the following question comes up regarding the utility connections.

We are planning to use a satellite dish for TV, and for internet and phone, we want to go with Kabel Deutschland.

Would you still have a Telekom line installed in the house as well? Or is that even required?

I actually don’t want to have anything to do with Telekom anymore, but I also don’t want to be dependent on just one provider. Would you bite the bullet and have a connection installed and pay for it, even if you might never use it?

I am also having Kabel BW and Telekom cables installed.

However, I use SAT for television and Kabel BW for phone and internet.

According to Kabel BW, Kabel BW without a TV connection is only possible with a new connection.

When opting for a fixed price, definitely choose both. However, I have heard that fixed prices may only apply if a contract with a minimum term (12-24 months) is signed afterward. In that case, I would choose one provider and install an empty conduit with a pull string from the house wall to the property boundary (check in advance where a connection would be possible). This will definitely make future upgrades easier, requiring only two small holes to be dug for retrofitting. The same applies if fiber optic or similar technology becomes available in 10 years...
