Hello everyone,
We plan to sow grass soon. Are there any recommendations?
About 120 sqm (1300 sq ft), mostly sunny, only shaded in the evening hours. It should be a "play" lawn since our kids are still young.
Is a standard off-the-shelf seed mix from the hardware store sufficient, or what should be used?

A friend of mine studied this topic during her university studies. She once gave me a lecture about good lawn and its requirements. Even today, I still find it mind-blowing.
Conclusion: Good turf roll is not available at the hardware store. Quality turf roll costs between 10–15 euros per square meter.
Grass seed from the hardware store is, with few exceptions, more like weeds than proper lawn. What you need depends heavily on your soil and light conditions.

Where does good turf cost more than €6? All local suppliers here offer it for around €12 including installation. Home improvement stores charge more... Turf at these prices often does not root properly and is very sensitive when the weather gets warmer.
Since she studied this subject and has also worked for a company that provides consulting in this area, I fully trust her on this.
