We are really excited about multicolored slate. Either as regular tiles or as “flagstones.” I’ve attached some pictures to show what I mean. We have already seen the tiles installed over large areas, but unfortunately not the flagstones. And I couldn’t find anything about them online. Maybe one of you has installed them and could share a photo with me ; )

We have two children (3 and 5 years old).
No pets.
Are you asking because of maintenance?
We looked at the tiles at a friend’s place where they’ve been installed for almost 30 years, and she is really impressed because they are so easy to maintain.
Of course, you shouldn’t leave chips on them for too long because of grease stains, but otherwise, you can’t see any wear on the floor. Even if there is a small stain somewhere, it doesn’t even show because of the texture of the tiles.

If you bring in dirt (e.g., small stones) and then drag them across the floor... etc...

I don’t mind if the floor gets scratched sometimes. It’s not a smooth surface anyway. It has texture and is multicolored, so scratches really don’t show up. Even if an edge chips, it’s not a big deal. It’s natural and not perfectly even or smooth to begin with. But thanks for the heads-up 🙂

We only have a slate imitation, which is less rough than natural slate, and I throw away at least one sock every week.
