Hello everyone,

I am currently planning our single-family house. Everything is going well so far – however, I am still a bit uncertain about the kitchen. I wanted a bay window facing east because the view in that direction is unobstructed for kilometers (miles) and will surely stay that way for the next 20 years.
Our architect suggested a pointed bay window (I’m not sure what the official term for this is).

I was also thinking about extending it straight out (so rectangular), but I’m unsure whether it would look good since the windows couldn’t be floor-to-ceiling but only half-height (due to the countertop). What do you think? Do you have any alternative suggestions?

Overall, the house is a mix of traditional and modern (pitched roof, but with two full stories).
If you need more information, just ask.

Best regards and thanks in advance for your suggestions,

The architect seems to be longing for the 90s.

I thought the same.

how much time you or someone else spends at this countertop looking outside.

I always wonder about that too... In bathrooms, you often see phrases like "looking out into nature from the bathtub." But when you’re in the tub, you tend to close your eyes rather than look outside.

Regarding the bay window: definitely angular. And if the pantry remains as planned, please position the door to the left as shown in the plan.

Be aware that such a corner can significantly increase costs, including from a kitchen design perspective.

Mon dieu... he really seems stuck in the 1980s... a bay window and then a corner bathtub on top of that.

He has been in the business for a while, so cut him some slack. And no, the bathtub will definitely not be installed like that.

You're right about the door. It's not a bad idea. This way you get a continuous countertop. Do you mean the far left side, or what exactly does "left side of the plan" mean? And yes, the kitchen will probably get a bit more expensive because of that.

I also think that your bedroom on the upper floor should be reviewed more carefully regarding the shower solution. Do you have any measurements?
On the plan, it might look a bit funny, but I am not so sure that it is a good idea with these two doors right behind the bed, and everything very tight.

The second door has been removed, and instead an open shower will be placed in the corner.
There’s really nothing wrong with the small bathroom itself, right? The bedroom doesn’t need much space anyway – it’s mainly used for sleeping, changing, etc. I’d rather give the kids (who are still in planning) a few more square meters. My wife specifically said she doesn’t need a walk-in closet or anything like that.

I like the idea of a small en suite bathroom; we added one like that at our place later on. I think having just one door is better. I was also considering space next to the bed for a small surface or something similar, which is why I asked about the measurements.
