Good evening,
I am interested to know whether, according to recognized industry standards, a vertical waterproofing layer for the base slab is necessary.
A timber frame house is being built on a base slab, all by a prefabricated house company. The base slab (not WU concrete) was cast in an Austrotherm formwork. The ground next to the base slab will be backfilled later, and next to the house, a gravel strip will be filled in that ends 15 cm (6 inches) below the top edge of the base slab or below the wooden wall of the house. The load case is W1.1E.
I found two standards related to this: 18533 and 68800. Which DIN applies in this case? Or do both apply simultaneously?
I have read that according to DIN 18533, waterproofing above ground level can be omitted if the components at the base are sufficiently water-repellent.
For DIN 68800, I found schematic diagrams that also show no vertical waterproofing.
I would appreciate it if someone here could help clarify this.
