Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The wallpapers all seem way too busy for my taste – but generally, I’m not a fan of wallpaper at all. However, taste is subjective, and everyone likes different things, which is perfectly fine.

But I would have expected the airships in the children’s room as well *laugh*

The sanitary installation is basically complete. Tomorrow, the insulation will be installed, and after that the underfloor heating will be laid.

I was a bit surprised that the water supply and drainage in the kitchen are surface-mounted. Yes, it was stated in the scope of work, but I couldn’t really imagine what the finished result would look like.

Bathroom construction site: Grohe flush tank on metal frame, insulated drain pipes, ladder, cables

White installation frame for wall-hung toilet with drain pipe and water connections.

Construction room with stacked insulation boxes and polystyrene panels in front of window.

Red, curved pipe lying on unfinished floor; building materials and installations visible

Construction site: red pipe over dusty floor, cables, tools, and stacked panels.

Open electrical distribution box with many cables, red clamps, and orange buttons

Interior construction site: orange PEX heating pipes run in the floor, cables lying beside.

Construction hallway: several red heating pipes and cables lying loose on the floor.

Drain and trap pipe on the wall, blue valve, orange straps.

Do you have a basement? If it’s just a slab foundation, then the bitumen waterproofing is missing; this topic was discussed here quite recently...

@seat88

No basement.
I recently discussed this topic with my site manager and my building inspector. Both said it’s not necessary. Since the foundation slab is made of waterproof concrete (WU concrete), it is not required.

The building inspector wrote to me:

"The requirement for waterproofing (e.g., waterproof membrane) is specified in DIN 18533.
However, this standard does not apply to components that are inherently watertight, such as the foundation slab of your building."

There is also a difference between simply casting the foundation slab with watertight concrete and having a genuine watertight foundation slab. Simple watertight concrete is not fully waterproof.

I think this whole topic will be a point of discussion in every third house...

I also don't understand why the kitchen has surface-mounted installations... I wouldn't really like that...
