Hello,

we are gradually starting the construction of a one-and-a-half-story single-family house. The attic floor will be finished, and now we are a bit unsure about the lighting. The electrician suggested wall lights, but we are not very happy with that.

Does anyone have experience with alternatives?

Could you create a small flat area at the gable? Sort of like a suspended ceiling? That way, you can also install regular lights.

Unfortunately, we do not have a ceiling.

Do I understand correctly that you are looking for lighting solutions for rooms with sloped ceilings rather than flat ones?

For rooms where the ridge runs continuously, this is not an issue, see the post by @M4rvin

Otherwise, lighting systems offer a lot of options, even for sloped ceilings (in cable-suspended systems, the cables can be installed so that the lights hang straight again).

Wall lights can also be very attractive—why are you so opposed to them?

Another option: use switched outlets and connect floor lamps there.

Pendant lamp.
Precisely because of the appearance of these lamps in relation to the ridge, the ceiling is often opened upward.
