Hello everyone,

Tomorrow, the upper floor will likely start being built. We’re not completely sure about one detail yet. It’s about the door to the upstairs bathroom. Is it better for the door to open toward the shower or toward the wall (where a bathroom cabinet will be placed)?

Thanks for your opinion!

Our architect told me that, as a rule, a door should always open towards the nearest wall.

Hmm, I would have instinctively said "toward the wall, not the shower" – but on the other hand, people often quickly go into the bathroom to wash their hands, brush their teeth, or whatever, and that is usually the path toward the basin. In that case, I wouldn’t want to walk "around the door," but rather open the door about 75-80° toward the shower...

Opening to the left. Pure gut feeling... And in the opinion of the building couple, I think that for "quick hand washing," the door opening to the left will cause less damage than at the shower 🙂

Are you always so rushed in the bathroom? :P – you could easily plan something with stoppers, buffers, or similar. 🙂

Door opening outwards not possible? :p
