Hello forum,
once again, we need your collective expertise. Our shower measures 1.40 x 1 meter (4 ft 7 in x 3 ft 3 in). The entrance is planned on the 1.40 meter (4 ft 7 in) long side. Since the quote from our plumber for a glass panel/door seems too expensive, we are wondering if a walk-in shower would be enough?
We understand that some splashing may occur. However, we have sufficient slope for drainage, and a small towel in front should be enough.
How wide should the shower entrance be? 70 cm (28 in) ↔ 70 cm (28 in), or would 80 cm (31 in) – 60 cm (24 in) be better? Currently, we have an old corner shower with a 40 cm (16 in) wide entrance.
Good luck

It definitely depends on your shower habits; my wife uses the smaller, open shower with 120cm (47 inch) and just as little water escapes. That’s probably because she is less physically active than I am.
More space and a glass panel between 130-150cm (51-59 inch) or a door would certainly be better. However, a door is not exactly cheap and brings other considerations that some people might not like.
Maybe you could try it without a door at first, with the option to add one later if needed. That’s how we approached it and we haven’t added a door to our 120cm (47 inch) shower.
I think it’s always a compromise one way or another, which isn’t a bad thing. There is probably no right or wrong here. Basically, I was rather surprised that both options work fine, as you just adapt to the conditions in my opinion.
