AUSILIO9Hello community,
I am currently looking into the IKEA Brimnes furniture, especially the beds and wardrobes, and I’m wondering if there are any useful add-ons or extensions that actually provide practical benefits. My focus is on usability and durability – for example, improvements in storage space, organization, or stability.
Many manufacturers offer accessories or modular add-ons, but so far I haven’t found reliable experiences or recommendations, specifically for the Brimnes series. Is there anyone here who has experience – maybe with custom solutions or recommended third-party accessories?
I’m also interested in whether investing in add-ons is worthwhile in the long term or if it’s better to make your own modifications right away.
Thanks for your insights!

Regarding the question of whether there are useful add-ons for IKEA Brimnes furniture, I can provide some technical insights.
- The Brimnes series is designed to be functional and affordable, which imposes limitations on the choice of materials and construction.
- Officially, IKEA offers very few additional modules or accessories for Brimnes, making modifications difficult.
- Practical enhancements mostly come from third-party providers or DIY solutions, such as felt pads for the floor or drawer organizers.
- Stability improvements, like additional reinforcements, usually require personal initiative and are not available as standard options.
In my opinion, it makes sense to focus on practical, self-installable add-ons like organizers, lighting units, or protective mats that make everyday use easier without expensive modifications. Investing in specific accessories is only worthwhile if the furniture is intended for long-term use and has clear shortcomings.

From my perspective, focusing on practical, self-installable add-ons like organizers, lighting units, or protective mats is worthwhile, as they make daily life easier without expensive renovations.I also think it’s very important to point that out. For several months now, I’ve been using additional LED strips on my Brimnes bed, which I attached to the nightstand board. The idea was originally just a small gimmick, but it has proven to be very practical for nighttime orientation.
In addition, I bought organizers for the drawers that are specifically cut to create more order in the relatively narrow drawers. That really helped me use the space much more efficiently.
Maybe not everyone likes DIY solutions, but often it’s precisely these small, well-thought-out additions that bring more quality of life to the Brimnes furniture. Of course, the question remains whether you are willing to put in the effort or would rather buy something completely different.
I would be interested to know if anyone here in the forum has similar homemade add-ons?

Since moving in, I’ve been using an extra drawer organizer that was actually designed for other furniture but fits perfectly in the Brimnes dressers. It has helped me organize the storage space much better. Even though it’s not from IKEA itself, I find such solutions very practical.
Personally, I’m not a fan of expensive complete add-ons but prefer practical, affordable tools that can be installed without special tools.
It would be interesting if IKEA eventually offered more compatible accessories for Brimnes themselves – at least as official recommendations.
