Hello everyone,

I recently assembled an IKEA Besta shelving unit and noticed some uncertainties regarding the back panels. Therefore, I have a question for the community: Are there any common issues with IKEA Besta back panels, such as fit, stability, or material quality? If so, how have you resolved these problems?

I am especially interested in practical tips or tricks for installing the back panel correctly without causing damage, and whether any additional measures are recommended to ensure the overall stability of the shelving unit.

Thanks in advance for your input and experiences!

I would like to know if any of you have used alternative back panels or managed to get these parts more stable somewhere as replacements?

Hello everyone, I really appreciate that this topic is being discussed so objectively here.

I personally struggled for a long time with the back panels from IKEA Besta and eventually switched to thin plywood panels, which I had cut to size at the hardware store.

This significantly reduced the issue of warping. You just need to make sure not to glue the back panel completely, but use screws instead, so you stay flexible if you need to move or rebuild the unit.

Of course, this is a bit more effort, but for me it was the best solution since I often rearrange the shelving and place great importance on stability.

I hope this helps you!
