Are there Ikea Pax versions with particularly shallow drawers? I am currently planning the interior of my bedroom and want to use the Pax wardrobe to store my belongings as efficiently as possible. I am specifically looking for options for very shallow drawers that are suitable for smaller or flat items, such as underwear, accessories, or socks. I am aware that there are different interior fittings for Pax, but I often only find drawer dimensions in standard heights in the usual product descriptions and lists. Does anyone have experience with especially shallow drawer variants or suitable inserts? It would also be helpful if someone has experience with combination options to install very narrow and shallow drawers in the wardrobe.

The question about extra shallow drawers in the Ikea Pax system is quite common, as Pax is very flexible and offers many interior fitting options. Basically, there are two standard drawer heights: about 14 cm (5.5 inches) for shallow drawers and around 26 cm (10 inches) for deep drawers. The shallow drawers are relatively narrow but actually work well for small clothing items.

If you’re looking for drawers even shallower than the 14 cm (5.5 inches) ones, it becomes difficult since Ikea does not usually offer shallower drawers as standard. However, you can place several shallow interior boxes inside one drawer to better organize the space.

Alternatively, Ikea also offers shelves and compartment inserts that sometimes work without drawers and allow finer subdivision. And for Pax, there are third-party accessories or DIY solutions to arrange this space differently.

Could you specify exactly how shallow the drawers need to be or how much space you are planning inside the wardrobe for the fittings? That would help provide more precise advice.

So, honestly: who even thinks about shallow drawers for Pax? 😉 But seriously, I recently took a closer look at the drawers – yes, the shallow ones are great if you want to neatly store accessories or underwear.

It’s important to consider not just the drawer height but also the depth – with the shallow ones, you can work really well, especially if you use boxes or inserts. The Ikea versions aren’t ultra-shallow, but they’re enough to keep everything organized.

One more tip: with the right drawer fronts, you get an elegant overall look, and the shallow drawers really help bring order to the space! 😎

Ikea offers two standard drawer heights for Pax: approximately 14 cm (5.5 inches) and 26 cm (10 inches). Very shallow drawers under 14 cm (5.5 inches) are not available. Use the 14 cm (5.5 inches) drawers for flat items.

To the point: Ikea Pax drawers come in two heights, approximately 14 cm (5.5 inches) and about 26 cm (10 inches). For the shallow drawers, there are no lower depth or height variations in the official range.

A recommended solution for storing smaller items in an organized way is to use compartment inserts or boxes together with the 14 cm (5.5 inches) drawers.

Alternatively, you can use inner pull-outs or wire baskets, which allow for a shallower and finer subdivision, although these are not traditional drawers.

For specific advice, it is important to know the measurements and quantities you need, as the interior configuration varies depending on the accessories.

Thank you for asking. Ideally, a drawer height of about 10 cm (4 inches) or less would be best so I can store flat items neatly and separately. The wardrobe is 236 cm (93 inches) tall, 100 cm (39 inches) wide, and 60 cm (24 inches) deep – I want to equip the lower section with several shallow drawers since I mainly want to store small items and textiles that don’t stack well there.

I have also considered whether the existing 14 cm (5.5 inches) drawers could be subdivided afterward with dividers or boxes that are even shallower than the drawers themselves. If anyone has experience with this, that would be very helpful.
