Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an Ikea Pax wardrobe and am starting the assembly. I noticed that the included manual is only in German. So I’m wondering whether Ikea PAX assembly instructions are really provided in just one language, or if there are versions in multiple languages—either in printed form or maybe online as a PDF? I’m especially interested in whether official multilingual manuals come with the purchase or if you have to download them separately.

Additionally, it would be interesting to know how Ikea generally handles multilingual manuals for such complex furniture. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you for your help!

Hey hildegar52,

interesting question! IKEA operates internationally, so bilingual instructions are almost a must, right? 😄 For my PAX furniture, I usually only had one manual, but it was often printed in several languages one after another – typically English and the local language.

Usually, you can also select the language online and download the manual in your preferred language. That’s really handy during assembly if you’re not entirely sure what something means.

So, if the manual in the box isn’t enough, it’s always worth checking IKEA’s website for PDFs. It saves stress and reduces printed paper! 🙂

Hello everyone,

to answer your question, hildegar52, as thoroughly as possible: Yes, Ikea PAX assembly instructions are generally available in multiple languages, but these are not always included as a complete multilingual printed booklet. Instead, they are often provided as separate language versions depending on the market and location.

In practice, for Germany, the instructions usually come in German, often supplemented by English sections for neighboring countries or international customers. Technically, the design of the wardrobe is presented in a very visual and standardized way, so assembly is possible even without strong language skills.

If you want to make sure you get the instructions in another language, I recommend searching online for the assembly manual for your specific PAX model on the Ikea website. There, you can often find individual instruction PDFs in different languages.

A small tip: Also check the model number and product name, as different PAX components sometimes have separate manuals. Always verify that the version matches your exact PAX system.

Have you already tried assembling your PAX wardrobe using the visual instructions, or are you having difficulties with certain language sections?

Best regards!

Additional information:

IKEA usually provides all assembly instructions for PAX systems as PDFs in multiple languages on their official website. The files are organized by product version and language, allowing customers to download and print the assembly instructions of their choice.

Inside the box, you will typically find only the assembly instructions in the language of the country where the product is sold or a selection of the most common languages in the region.

It is important to note that the instructions are largely image-based, so language barriers are generally minimal.

Conclusion: Yes, PAX instructions are available in several languages, but usually not all languages in a single printed copy. For different languages, it is recommended to use IKEA’s official download service.

I find it very helpful that the picture instructions are the main focus here. Especially if you’re not very comfortable with the language or the manual seems complicated, the pictograms and illustrated steps can really make a difference – they have encouraged me several times when I felt unsure.

In my case, the German manual was in the box, but I also wanted to read it in English because I was more familiar with the terms. The multilingual versions available online were a big help.

Sometimes it’s worth asking a friend for help, especially if you’re assembling alone and dealing with an unfamiliar language. Don’t be discouraged if a step is confusingly worded – the pictures usually clarify it.

Are you having difficulties with the German instructions?
