I would like to add to this and explain some technical details that are often overlooked with Ikea Hemnes furniture:

Hemnes is primarily solid wood, mostly pine, with a surface treatment of a thin lacquer or stain layer, depending on the original color. This means:

- When repainting, you should first remove the surface seal by lightly sanding so that the new paint adheres properly.
- Alkyd paints are quite durable, cure well, and are often more resistant than acrylics but require longer drying times.

I see this differently. Why not boldly use stronger colors on the entire Hemnes piece? Ikea furniture, with its clean and simple design, is actually ideal for creating a modern contrast with bold colors.

Why limit it to small areas? I believe Hemnes furniture can handle intense colors on larger surfaces too, as long as you use high-quality paint and prepare the surface perfectly. Sticking only to standard colors means missing out on a real eye-catcher.

Of course, patience in preparation is essential, or the result can quickly be disappointing. But in a world full of white walls and minimalist furniture, such a color experiment can really bring a fresh vibe.
