Hello everyone,
I am planning a small move within my apartment soon and will be handling an IKEA Brimnes piece of furniture (such as a bed frame or wardrobe). Since I know these pieces are stylish but can be quite bulky and awkward, I wanted to ask: Are there any specific tips or helpful tricks for handling Brimnes furniture, especially regarding transport, possible disassembly, and safe reassembly?
I am particularly interested in hearing about other users’ experiences to make handling easier, such as helpful tools for carrying, time planning, or safety advice concerning screws and assembly.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Hello Lirake,
Regarding replacement screws, I can say that it is often wise to have at least 10-20% more screws than the original quantity. Especially for furniture like Brimnes, which is frequently assembled and disassembled, screws can easily get damaged or lost.
For transport: yes, using furniture dollies or hand trucks is effective for moving heavier parts. It is important to secure the load well and, if possible, have a second person to steady or guide it.
Additionally, felt or rubber gliders can be used to slide the furniture easily across the floor without damaging it.
I hope this helps!

How much spare is advisable when you’ve already seen that certain parts at Ikea often need restocking?Personally, I always try to have at least 10 to 15% extra screws and small components on hand. Sometimes parts simply get misplaced, especially when working in a tight space.
One more tip: If you pack the parts in separate bags, label them clearly so you can quickly find the right ones during assembly. It saves a lot of time and frustration.
