Hello everyone, I have a somewhat specific question: Are there any tips or tricks to make my IKEA Malm drawers open more smoothly and prevent them from slamming open so harshly and quickly? With my drawers, there is often a springy popping open, which can be unpleasant, especially with lightly loaded or heavier drawers. I am particularly interested in practical solutions or adjustments that work well for the Malm series. I would appreciate any experiences and concrete tips, for example, on protecting the drawer slides or improving the opening and closing action. Thanks in advance!

Silicone spray is compatible with plastics

That is correct. However, before spraying, it is important to thoroughly clean everything, as trapped dirt can strain the mechanism over time more than it helps.

Additionally, I recommend not modifying the original guide rails, since even minor changes in tolerance—especially with inexpensive furniture—can cause warping or poor functionality.

After a day here with a lot of input, here are a few relaxed thoughts:

For me, deliberately reducing the weight in the drawers helped. Less load means less force needed when opening and closing.

Also, installing the furniture knobs evenly and straight already works small wonders for smooth operation.

And if nothing else helps, a cheerful drawer-pushing anthem can make it all funnier! ;-) Good luck!
