Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to expand an IKEA KALLAX shelf unit, and I have the question: Is it possible to buy KALLAX panels individually? Specifically, I am interested in whether the individual shelves or dividers can be purchased separately to customize the shelf without having to buy an entirely new system.
If anyone has experience with whether IKEA itself or perhaps third-party suppliers offer such individual panels, I would be very grateful for any feedback. Tips on alternatives would also be great!
Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, IKEA does not officially sell the KALLAX shelves individually. The shelves are always fixed to the entire unit, and there’s usually nothing available for repurchasing.
However, I’ve heard that some people simply cut and paint custom wooden boards themselves, which is a cool DIY alternative!
If you’re a bit handy, that could be an interesting solution, right? ;-)

I always enjoy questions like this about IKEA!
Regarding individual shelves: IKEA seems pretty strict about this—they don’t officially sell the KALLAX shelves separately, at least not in their online store or physical shops.
That’s really a good idea; sometimes doing it yourself is the better option! 🙂
You might also want to ask at local hardware stores or home improvement centers if they can cut boards to size for you. This can often be cheaper than buying replacement parts directly from IKEA.

To answer the question clearly: For production reasons, IKEA does not offer individual shelves for the KALLAX series as separate replacement parts.
If the shelf unit is damaged, it is recommended to contact customer service. In some cases, spare parts may be provided as an exception. However, individual components are not officially listed in the online store.
Alternatively, a trusted carpenter can make an exact replacement panel, where material and dimensions are important: KALLAX standard depth 39 cm (15 inches), shelf thickness approximately 1.5 cm (0.6 inches), melamine-coated surface.
