The question I have is: how can I optimize the construction of the cabinets to facilitate future maintenance and repairs, and to maximize the furniture’s lifespan? Specifically, I am interested in advice regarding proper fastening, the use of additional materials, or preventive measures against wear and tear. I would appreciate any experiences, tips, and tricks that go beyond the standard assembly instructions.
Basically, it is important to carefully position and pre-drill all parts from the start, if necessary. For Metod cabinets, it is advisable not to tighten the metal connectors too much to avoid material stress. If done too tightly, connections can break or become distorted. For ease of maintenance, I also recommend choosing doors and drawers with adjustable fittings, as this allows easy correction of misalignments later on. Regular inspection and readjustment every few months significantly extend their lifespan.

Many users underestimate the importance of precise alignment during assembly – what do you think, can simple measures prevent doors from squeaking or drawers from sticking in the long run? Personally, I also consider applying lubricants to moving parts an important step. However, one has to be careful to avoid attracting dirt particles.

Precise installation not only reduces mechanical wear but also prevents premature material fatigue. I recommend carefully tightening all fittings with the appropriate torque and making fine adjustments after the initial installation. Additionally, it is helpful to occasionally oil the hinges and ensure that no excessive loads from heavy items are placed on individual drawers or doors.
