Hello everyone,
I recently bought an Ikea PAX wardrobe system and am currently installing the doors. However, I would like to attach the doors so that no screws are visible on the front exterior. The standard installation with the included screws doesn’t look ideal to me, especially with the modern, smooth doors.
My question is: How can I securely and stably fix Ikea PAX doors without using screws that show on the outside? Are there special fittings or alternative mounting methods I should be aware of?
I would really appreciate any tips and experiences, preferably with an explanation of how it works, and if possible, recommendations for tools or fastening materials.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Jimmy60,
I totally understand what you mean – screw heads on the front can really spoil the look 😅! Fortunately, with PAX there are some solutions. A popular method is to attach the doors using concealed fasteners like cam connectors (also known as Minifix) from the inside. This way, the screws are in the cabinet body and connect to the door without any visible screws on the outside.
I recently did the same, and it looks much more elegant. You will need the appropriate fittings, which IKEA sometimes offers themselves or which you can find at hardware stores. It takes a bit of patience to align everything, but the result is excellent!

Hi Jimmy60, great question!
I’m familiar with the challenge of mounting doors without visible screws. For my PAX wardrobe, I used “concealed door hinges” that can be installed completely out of sight!
Here’s another tip: check out clamp screws for furniture doors, which you can attach from the inside so the front stays clean. Really practical and no screw clutter on the door!
Good luck with the installation 🙂

There are several technically sound solutions for mounting Ikea PAX doors without visible screws:
- Using cam connectors, which join through holes drilled on the inside of the door and the cabinet frame.
- Installing concealed hinges mounted on the inner edge of the door to securely fix it in place.
- Employing special mounting clips that sit inside and hold the door without exterior screws.
For a stable connection, precise measuring and drilling are essential. The original Ikea fittings are designed for these methods and provide a reliable solution. Alternatively, custom furniture fittings with similar mounting principles can also be used.

Hello Jimmy60,
I understand that you don’t want visible screws, as they also look untidy to me. Here’s a small tip: it can be a bit tricky at first to align doors with concealed fittings properly, especially when you have several doors next to each other.
I initially had trouble mounting the doors evenly and had to adjust the hinges and cam lock fittings multiple times. Don’t get discouraged; it’s worth checking everything several times before final tightening.
Good luck – I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Hello Jimmy60,
to attach PAX doors cleanly without visible screws, I recommend using the included "Mid-Set" and "Minifix" cam connectors, as some have already suggested. The installation is done from the inside, so the screws are hidden within the cabinet interior.
In general, you should drill the holes very precisely, preferably with a drilling jig or guide, to ensure proper alignment.
For mounting the hinges, you can use concealed cup hinges, which are also installed on the inside. This prevents visible fastening points on the outside, resulting in a very clean finish.
If you like, I can also put together a small checklist to help you with the installation.
