Hello everyone, I am currently planning the installation of my new Ikea Metod kitchen and want to mount the cabinets as efficiently and securely as possible. Since I find some important steps missing or unclear in priority in the instructions, I am interested in knowing: Which assembly steps are particularly important for Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets to ensure the cabinets remain stable, the drawers operate smoothly, and the doors hang correctly? Are there any experiences or tips on areas where extra care should be taken to avoid later adjustments or damage?

I recommend always having an assistant or using a support device during installation, especially for the upper cabinets. The weight and holding the units in the correct position while fastening are critical. Additionally, aligning the components before securing them and checking the height with a spirit level are essential steps in the installation process.

Exactly, in addition, the brackets for wall cabinets should be positioned precisely according to the instructions. If they are mounted too far forward or backward, the load-bearing capacity can decrease quickly, and material deformation may occur over time. Another important point: the back panels should fit flat and tight as they provide the torsional rigidity for the cabinets.

I always prefer to first set up the frames and main structures accurately before fine-tuning the doors and drawers. Otherwise, you can quickly get lost in the detailed work without a stable foundation. Additionally, it’s possible to check everything again and realign if necessary before finally tightening the screws – this saves trouble and scratches later on.

I’m currently working on this as well and have to say what helped me: Take your time when hanging the doors and adjust the hinges slowly and carefully. I was too impatient and had to readjust many times, which was frustrating. Also not to be underestimated: the stability of the floor or substructure. If the floor isn’t level, even the best installation won’t be very effective.

That’s a good point, thank you! I will be very careful to ensure everything is perfectly level during assembly. In summary, the order and precision of the frames, wall fixings, the back panel, and finally the hinges and drawers seem especially important. If anyone has tips on tools or tricks for better alignment, please share.
