Hello everyone,

I recently noticed that one of the doors on my IKEA PAX wardrobe has been damaged—there is a small dent and some paint has chipped off in one spot. Since I want to continue using the wardrobe, I would like to know: Does IKEA offer spare parts specifically for damaged PAX wardrobe doors? If so, what is the replacement process like, and is it possible to order individual door fronts or at least repair kits without having to replace the entire wardrobe?

I appreciate any experiences and advice, as I’m worried that otherwise it might be quite complicated and expensive. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Gustavo,

Regarding your question: Yes, IKEA does offer replacement parts for PAX wardrobe doors. You can usually order individual door fronts as spare parts, especially for standard models.

However, it is important that you know the exact product name and the dimensions of your door to get the correct replacement part. Not all spare parts are visible in the IKEA online store, so it is worth asking directly at the store or contacting customer service.

Sometimes there are also small repair kits available for minor issues like paint damage or for replacing hinges and handles – but this depends on the type of damage.

It is best to check before replacing whether your door is still available as a spare part, because older models are not always fully reproduced. If you are unsure, I can gladly give you tips on how to find the product information.

I hope this helps you!

In short: IKEA sells replacement parts for PAX doors, but only original compatible ones. Just call customer service with the door measurements and serial number ready. If only the finish is damaged, they also offer touch-up pens. Usually, that’s all you need.

I would like to add: If you have the exact model name, you can often contact IKEA directly to check if they still have the part in stock or can order it. For older PAX models, this is usually more difficult because production of the parts is eventually discontinued.

An alternative, if the damage is not too severe, would be a professional repair using filler and subsequent painting, to avoid replacing the entire door panel.

If the hinge is damaged, IKEA generally offers replacement hinges that you can easily swap out. The same applies to handles.

So, if you only need the door front, the chances are good, but make sure to check availability beforehand.

That sounds interesting; I was expecting to need a complete replacement door. Could you or someone else maybe explain in more detail what such a repair kit includes and whether it’s easy to get at the furniture store? I’m asking because the damage to my door is mostly superficial.

Additionally, I’m curious if IKEA’s paint touch-up pens match the colors well or if they only provide a rough color match.

Repair kits for PAX doors usually include:
- Small filler putty to repair dents and scratches
- Color-matched touch-up pens or small paint pots
- Sandpaper or small polishing pads to blend the surface after repair

These kits are generally not sold directly with the furniture at IKEA, but can be requested at customer service or the repair department. Not every store stocks them permanently, so it is advisable to call ahead.

It is important to keep in mind that the repair effort will only improve the final result to a certain extent. For severe damage, a full door replacement is the better option.

When using touch-up pens, make sure to select the color model that matches the door color as closely as possible; otherwise, color differences may be visible. A perfect color match like factory coating is rarely achievable.
