Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new Pax wardrobe system from Ikea and looking closely at the matching interior components. My question is: which cabinet components from the Ikea range work best with the PAX frame without causing compatibility issues? I am especially interested in shelf options, drawer inserts, hanging rails, and possibly special accessories like baskets or clamp rails. It is important that they fit securely, are well made, and support the storage concept optimally. I look forward to your experience and tips on which PAX-compatible components have proven to be reliable.
In general, PAX’s own interior fittings such as shelves, drawer inserts, and clothes rails are perfectly matched and fully compatible. For example: - Shelves come in various depths that fit exactly into the PAX frames. - Drawer inserts are specifically designed for the PAX system and are easy to install. - Clothes rails are built to support the weight of clothing and fit the designated shelf holes. Other Ikea components not explicitly listed as PAX accessories usually do not fit or only fit with adjustments. Accessories like wire baskets or dividers are partially compatible; it’s worth carefully checking the dimensions and attachment methods. Important: Pay attention to the load capacity of shelves and drawers.

I always use the PAX drawers and shelves; they are perfect. Other Ikea shelves usually don’t fit exactly. Thanks for the tip. What about the PAX KOMPLEMENT accessories, like the pull-out baskets or divider systems? Do they really all fit into the standard frame, or are there limitations? I find the metal baskets especially practical, but I’ve heard they don’t work with all PAX depths.
The extendable wire baskets from the PAX Komplement range are great, look stylish, and operate smoothly. Just keep in mind: they usually only fit in depths of 58 cm (23 inches), not in shallower models. For narrower options, there are fixed baskets that can be hung inside instead. Personally, I like the combination of baskets and wooden shelves – it looks neat and flexible. Divider systems help with organizing, but in very small compartments, they can sometimes feel too cluttered.
I find the range can quickly become overwhelming. I myself have a PAX system with shelves, drawers, and hanging rods. At first, I wasn’t sure if everything would hold up – but the entire interior of the PAX system is sturdy and well made. I also use the baskets, but I would recommend planning carefully in advance how much clothing or accessories you want to store, so nothing gets stuck or the drawers become hard to open later. With the right combinations, PAX really offers convenience.
