Hello everyone,
I am currently looking into the question of how long the paint on Billy shelves actually lasts under everyday conditions. I am particularly interested in how durable the surface of the shelves is during daily use, for example against scratches, wear from books and decorative items, or occasional cleaning with damp wipes. Are there any experiences regarding whether the paint wears off more quickly on the edges, or can one expect at least several years of normal use? A realistic assessment is important to me, preferably with some advice on which factors might affect durability. Thanks in advance!

After two years, I’ve only noticed minor scratches, mostly from rearranging items. For cleaning: never use aggressive cleaners, as they can damage the finish.
Edges and corners are usually the first places where paint wear appears. This is because they are touched and bumped more often. If you move the shelves frequently, this naturally speeds up the process. I also recommend not using wet sponges, but rather a dry or slightly damp cloth.

Never use aggressive agents; the paint won't tolerate that.Exactly, that is the key point. Only this way will the paint last for a long time.
