Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the topic "What are your experiences with the durability of Ikea Brimnes?" Specifically, I am interested in how sturdy this piece of furniture really is in everyday use, especially regarding material quality, workmanship, and signs of wear after extended use. I have been considering purchasing a Brimnes bed or wardrobe but am unsure if the investment is worthwhile in the long term or if significant issues might arise after a few years. If you have firsthand experience with Brimnes furniture, it would be great if you could share your insights—especially concerning the stability of the construction and daily use. Thanks in advance!

I have had a Brimnes bed for almost 4 years, and the quality is okay. However, you can tell that the material is more like MDF and it gets damaged relatively easily. The stability is there, but it is not premium quality. For the price, it is acceptable.

Many people criticize this, but honestly – who expects solid wood at an Ikea price? The real question is how durable such an MDF piece of furniture can be if you take reasonable care of it. I think Brimnes often gets a bad reputation. You need to set your expectations accordingly and not compare it to expensive designer furniture.

I have had my Brimnes set for over 5 years now and I am really happy with it! 😊 Of course, it’s not solid wood furniture, but the stability has completely convinced me. Even with daily use, there are no loose screws or deformations. It’s perfect for students or people who don’t want to spend a lot of money. I would definitely buy it again!

A small addition to that: The durability of Brimnes furniture also depends heavily on how it is used. For bedroom furniture that is moved infrequently, it holds up much better compared to frequent moves or heavy loads. Additionally, proper assembly is essential – overtightening screws can cause material stress, while loose screws lead to instability. I recommend carefully following the instructions during assembly and adding reinforcements if necessary.

From a technical perspective, the Brimnes products are mostly made of particleboard with a melamine coating, which makes the surfaces durable, but they are still susceptible to edge and moisture damage. Proper care is important, including avoiding water exposure and mechanical stress on the edges. For long-lasting stability, it is recommended to occasionally tighten the fasteners. Overall, Brimnes is a budget-friendly piece of furniture with some limitations, but it is quite durable for moderate use.
