Hello everyone,

I need some advice regarding the wall mounting of the Ikea Besta system.

We want to buy the TV stand (120cm (47 inches) wide) from Besta and eventually hang it on the wall. Additionally, we want to mount one Besta cabinet (60cm (24 inches) wide) flush on both the left and right sides of the TV stand.

So essentially, we will have a 240cm (94 inches) wide TV stand setup.

According to Ikea, the 120cm (47 inches) wide TV stand is mounted directly to the wall without a wall rail, while the cabinets (60cm (24 inches)) come with a wall rail.

Now my question is: Can I also mount the TV stand to the wall using two wall rails (each 60cm (24 inches) wide)? This way, I could mount the entire Besta system with wall rails. Or do you have better suggestions for wall mounting it?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards

@krebelski have you already installed your TV stand? Mine is now assembled, and I have gotten suitable anchors for the Poroton wall. There are four screws planned for the TV stand. However, I would prefer to use some kind of hanging system instead of just placing the TV stand against the wall and tightening it with screws. But maybe I am just less risk-tolerant and will initially put the TV stand on legs 🙄

Besta has its own rail system; it’s up to you whether you want to use it or not.

Why don’t you use the rail? It costs 15€. You can also install multiple rails side by side. Then the shelf is hung on it.

But maybe I’m just less adventurous and will first put the TV stand on feet 🙄

Could you please share a photo of your stand?
Including the anchors you used.^^

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I also assembled my Besta TV stand – I plan to mount it to the wall during the next week.

I have a cable duct and the power outlets as well as LAN ports positioned at the height of the cable duct (I believe about 30–40cm (12–16 inches) from the floor).

In other words: The TV stand needs to be mounted exactly at this height so that these connections are concealed.

Problem: The power outlets, LAN ports, and cable duct are located quite “randomly” right behind the TV stand, specifically behind the Pax back panel.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue and can share how it was resolved?

Maybe removing the entire back panel so the outlets extend into the interior space? Or possibly cutting holes?

Problem: All power outlets and LAN ports are located only in the middle compartment (there are 3 compartments overall), so I would also need to drill holes in each side panel inside to route the cables.

Perhaps there are tips or tricks on how to best solve this.

Maybe just cut some holes?
Exactly. A jigsaw is enough, or you can use a hole saw for that.

In the living room, we were lucky because the back panel of the cabinet was recessed about 1-2cm (½ inch) towards the center. This gave a clean finish on top but still enough space behind for the cables.
In the bedroom, unfortunately, it wasn’t like that, so I just drilled several holes in the side panel with the largest wood drill bit. In the end, I placed the devices so that the bulky power connector wasn’t routed through those holes, but rather LAN cables and thinner cables like those for AppleTV. If you drill the holes just above the shelf, they won’t be visible at all.
