Hi all,

We need to retrofit roller shutters. Only exterior-mounted roller shutters are possible now, which is fine. Unfortunately, we can’t avoid using a cable duct for the power supply.

There are two options suggested to extend the power supply from existing sockets to the exterior shutter box:

1) From inside the house, a hole is drilled next to the socket through the Poroton wall, including interior and exterior plaster. Then, from the outside, the cable is laid in a cable duct, which is mounted on the exterior wall and runs about 1.5 meters (5 feet) up to the box.

2) The cable duct is installed inside the house, with the cable running up inside it, and then the wall opening is made.

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to having the cable duct on the exterior façade, or are both options essentially the same and a matter of personal preference?

Thanks

Option 3: Install the cable flush with the wall, apply filler, and paint the wall.

Pest or cholera.

Chase the walls inside, then plaster and paint over them again.
Anything else is just foolish.

Are we talking about a window?

I also advocate for option 3. It can even be done cost-effectively in EL. Try to avoid using a cable duct if possible.

There will have to be some mess anyway when drilling for the switch.

Yes, exactly.
That option would actually be the best; I will follow up on that. Thanks.
But between the two options, which one would be better?

Better? Probably neither is better than the other. But option 1 will likely be more pleasant for you. That way, you won’t constantly be looking at the cable duct (while your neighbors will constantly be looking at the ducts outside – as if to say: can’t they even build properly…).
