Hello community,
I have a terrace roof covering about 45m² (480 sq ft).
For this, I have a building permit including structural calculations, etc.
Now I am planning to glaze part of the terrace and convert it into a kind of conservatory. The room is intended to be used as a "cold room," and the glazing area would remain under 75m³ (2,650 cu ft). My question is, do I need an additional building permit or planning permission for this in NRW?

Does anyone have information on this?

Can no one tell me anything about this?

According to information online, conservatories up to 30m² (320 sq ft) in NRW do not require a building permit / planning permission. And even if it were 45m² (484 sq ft) – I would just go ahead and build it. No complainant, no judge.

Do you actually mean 75m³ (2,649 ft³) or m² (square meters / square feet)?
Do you have a simple sketch or photos?

I wouldn’t recommend doing this without approval: insurance issues if something happens, risk of having to dismantle, and much more.

Should the whole structure be fully sealed and remain unheated, or just "almost sealed"? In the latter case, it would be more like a sunroom.

I mean 75m³ (2,650 ft³). The conservatory should be properly sealed, with windows, etc., and access to the house. However, it will not be heated.
The area is approximately 8 x 3.5 m (26 x 11.5 ft), with a covered terrace measuring 3.5 x 4 m (11.5 x 13 ft).

If the area is 8 x 3.5 m (26.2 x 11.5 ft), it is exempt from the approval procedure; the volume is not relevant for this. The requirement, of course, is a 3 m (10 ft) setback from the property boundary. However, I would measure again carefully, as it is close to the 30 m² (323 ft²) limit.
