Hello everyone,
Starting tomorrow, our interior walls will be finished with Q2 plaster.
We will carry out the painting work ourselves a few weeks later.
Now we are wondering what would be the best option for this.
We have currently considered several options but are still unsure which one we prefer (cost/effort).
1. Simply paint with EasyKnauf roll plaster (fine texture)
2. Apply painter’s fleece underneath and paint with EasyKnauf roll plaster (fine texture)
3. Apply painter’s fleece underneath and paint with standard emulsion paint
4. Use textured wallpaper (Raufaser) and then paint over it
We generally don’t like ceilings and walls to be completely smooth – a fine texture is perfectly fine.
What have you done in similar situations? If it wasn’t a DIY job: What did your painter do?
Any tips/tricks/notes on this?

It is heavier to apply. I also used it in the hallway and had it on some walls in my previous house.
I always had the problem that the material didn’t stick to the roller, even when it was damp. That’s why I always applied it with a trowel and then textured it with the roller. Can I apply any standard dispersion paint on a textured roller finish, or do I need to use a "special" type of paint?

In the old house, I used paint that could be blended or smudged, and that worked without any problems.

4. Woodchip wallpaper and painting over itWe are currently facing the same question, although our decision can wait until (at least) summer. Since we can do little ourselves, we initially considered woodchip wallpaper, which is included as standard by our prefab home builder. However, :-) it seems there are other textured wallpapers that can be applied over a Q2 finish and that, in my opinion, look good whether painted or not. I assume that installing these textured wallpapers does not cost significantly more than applying woodchip wallpaper, but I cannot say for sure yet. Please keep us/me updated, and if you want, maybe you could share some pictures of your Q2 finish and the progress. I really find it unfortunate that Q2 results vary so much, making it impossible to give reliable recommendations for non-professionals like me.
The installation itself should actually require less effort, since soaking textured wallpaper beforehand seems more time-consuming to me than just applying paste to the wall and hanging the strips.
However, non-woven wallpapers are usually more expensive than textured wallpaper. My contractor wanted to charge me quite a lot for that.

I’m really looking forward to the interior plaster... I should be able to provide photos of it by mid-next week. I hope it’s clean enough that we can easily apply a roller plaster finish over it.

So, is it more difficult to work with?Yes, especially physically. There's simply more mass on the roller. Prager91 schrieb:
Can one person apply paint to corners, edges, and tricky spots while the other covers the larger areas with a roller? That's how we did it. The second person also used a finish roller over the large areas to help distribute everything more evenly.Similar topics
