Hello everyone,

Our future house has a cold roof. Since only certain items should be stored there, we want to get special storage boxes that provide protection against external temperature fluctuations as well as moisture. Regular plastic boxes that we already have are not very suitable for this purpose. Can you recommend any specific boxes that you use yourselves?

I think Steffi33 could organize a flea market in the post-Corona period. The amount of items in the photos surprised me, but the attic looks very tidy.

What do you mean by post-Corona?
Since the lockdown, I've been selling quite a few things on e**y because no furniture or electronics stores are open :p

@Steffi33
The shoes all look quite nice too – looking at them as a whole, you can really get a sense of your entire lifestyle 🙂

We have a large cold attic and store practically everything there: laundry, fabrics, paper, office supplies, shoes, winter clothes, summer clothes, winter sports equipment, Christmas decorations, toys, mattresses, tools... Exceptions are liquids, food, and plants.

Actually, food should keep well there during winter 🙂 You just have to remember it.

Nothing rusts up there and nothing feels “damp”… currently, at most, it’s just “cold.”

Cold air holds less moisture, so it is much drier than at room temperature.

What I love most is that I can dry my laundry up there.

I often hear that laundry “smells musty” if it dries too slowly 🙁

Basically yes.. the problem is the subzero temperatures.. we also have those in the attic. It’s only about 1-2 degrees warmer there than outside.

Oh no... definitely not... I don’t use fabric softener or fragrances.. and still the laundry smells fresh. The air passes through the gaps on our roof, so it’s dried “like outside.” However, it hangs there for several days.

Often we have laundry that smells like old sweat after wearing. In that case, I need to do two pre-washes, otherwise I can’t get rid of the odor. So I think it’s related to the washing process if the laundry still smells musty after drying.

To be honest, I believe that with the cost of a sufficient number of airtight boxes, you could also finish your entire attic.

Why?
The main reason most people declutter is because they either have no more space or have lost track of their stuff.
I’m a big supporter of Marie Kondo, but Steffi’s attic is perfectly organized visually and there is plenty of space.
So I would really only declutter, following Marie’s philosophy, what no longer brings joy.
