Hello everyone,

Our future house has a cold roof. Since only certain items should be stored there, we want to get special storage boxes that provide protection against external temperature fluctuations as well as moisture. Regular plastic boxes that we already have are not very suitable for this purpose. Can you recommend any specific boxes that you use yourselves?

You can store anything there that can withstand frost, heat, and humidity. Tiles, roof shingles, suitcases, etc. However, not paint, fabrics, or sensitive electronics.

And here we have it. Old paint cans with paint, clothing, cardboard boxes, Christmas tree stands, and Christmas decorations should already be stored there. Let’s see how expensive it all will be.

Insulating the roof between the rafters? $1,400 plus your labor.

Ok, that works. If I have it done by a professional, it will probably cost at least 1000€ more.

What was supposed to happen to the electronics?

We have a large cold attic where we store almost everything: laundry, fabrics, paper, office supplies, shoes, winter clothes, summer clothes, winter sports equipment, Christmas decorations, toys, mattresses, tools… The only exceptions are liquids, food, and plants.

Nothing rusts up there, and nothing feels "damp"—currently, it’s just "cold." What I love most is that I can dry my laundry up there.
