fraubauer18 Nov 2020 09:40Good day.
I hope I am in the right section here.
In my condominium (4 years old), I have noticed that the ceiling plaster in the kitchen is peeling off slightly in some areas.
The indoor humidity in the apartment is rather low, usually a maximum of 40%.
Regular ventilation is done by airing out the rooms quickly (shock ventilation).
There is also an exhaust hood installed.
The kitchen is used rather infrequently.
Room temperature is normally around 21 degrees Celsius (70°F).
The ceiling doesn’t feel damp. However, in one spot (about 20x20 cm (8x8 inches)), the plaster is peeling slightly and shows some discoloration.
What could be the cause?
What can I do myself in this situation?
Unfortunately, I am unable to upload a photo. It doesn’t work. I am retired.
Thank you very much.

Is it really the plaster or the paint/wallpaper?
If the condominium is only 5 years old, it should still be under the warranty period. So the company would be responsible for any defects.
Does anyone living in the house happen to be a tradesperson who could take an initial look?
Otherwise, it might be a good idea to call the construction company or send an informal letter, possibly with a photo attached.

Steven Hello Steven.
Thanks for your information.
But what exactly is formwork oil? We have standard concrete slabs everywhere, which only have a white "coating."
What can be done in this case?
I will report this under the warranty.
Thanks

Is there perhaps a tradesperson living in the building who could take a first look?

It is a standard concrete ceiling with a white coating! For me, it’s plaster.
It could also be white paint. No textured plaster. Smooth plaster/paint!
No wallpaper.
Thank you
