Good morning everyone,

As the year is coming to an end, hopefully most projects for 2019 are completed. What are your plans for 2020? Any major projects in the garden or upgrades inside the house? What will you be working on next year?

We want to finally finish and move in by January/February, so gardening and the terrace will be on the agenda for next year.

My personal passion project is the hot tub. I just haven't decided yet whether to buy one or build it myself. I definitely don’t want one of those plastic ones...

A concrete one would be amazing:

Uninsulated = heating costs higher than for the entire house

It doesn’t have to be that way; you can insulate it as well. Let’s see how it turns out. I actually don’t want a plastic tub or a "paddling pool" like the inflatable ones, although those aren’t bad.

Let’s see what we can complete this year among the short- and medium-term “projects,” what will be finished in 2020, and what will be postponed to 2021
- new kitchen: sand ceiling beams, insulate gaps, install wastewater pipes, lay tiles, assemble kitchen
- pantry: insulate ceiling, core drilling, lay tiles, install shelving system
- storage room: break open wall, install door, brick up old door opening
- partition wall in the living room
- replace 14 windows in the house
- re-insulate living room ceiling
- hallway between rooms: lay tiles, replace door
- build new shed
- paint facade, renew cladding boards (weatherboards)
- pave yard and carport
- build fence
- completely gut old kitchen and old bathroom, lay tiles, install entrance door, etc. (office extension)
- rebuild stairs from ground floor to first floor, tear down old stairs, rebuild stairs from first floor to attic, remove old stairs
- create new bathroom with drywall construction, including piping, sanitary fixtures, tiles...
- create and furnish walk-in closet with drywall construction
- renew floor and insulate ceiling in current walk-in closet

What kind of connections do you have available at that location (high-voltage power, water, wastewater, heating, LAN, etc.)? This will also influence your decision. Insulating the floor and walls and having a good cover definitely makes sense.
Where do you want to install the technical equipment, or will you just use simple cartridge filters?
In any case, I’m looking forward to seeing how your project turns out.

I’m definitely curious to see when you bring this project to life.

That is still all in the future. However, conduits and water are already available there.

At my place: building a fence, continuing to develop the garden—would be great if I could finish the terrace (right now we are up to the gravel stage). Paving the parking area is still pending, but I don’t think that will happen this year. At least not financially.

One step at a time, and the car doesn’t care whether it’s paving stones or gravel.
