Hello everyone,
I’m new here and have a question right away.
I’ve added an extension. The original building is brick, and the new part is coated with plaster in RAL1015.
Somehow, I’m not really happy with how it looks. Does anyone have ideas on how to improve the appearance?
I’ve already thought about attaching brick slips, but the original brick is quite old (35 years).
Best regards,
Michael

Honestly? Your house doesn't seem completely unfamiliar to me; I think I might have seen it in the green forum last year? No, definitely not.
Thank you all for your opinions and ideas.

And a genuine improvement, even if probably unintended, would be the removal of the huge chimney pipe.

I appreciate that the house honestly acknowledges its extension, meaning the addition is integrated harmoniously but not assimilated.

The Waigel eyebrow dormers (slate) above are also quite unique. Buchweizen schrieb:

more so the rather unattractive brickwork that looks very outdated... Wow, that really seems like an attack on the original building. How does one even come up with that idea?!
I just noticed the covered porch/conservatory. I would paint it white... or light gray.
Maybe it could also serve as a link between old and new. For example, you could paint the facade on that side with wood in the same color as the porch. If you have a soft spot for Falu red or Greek blue...!
I would also lean more towards white or a lighter gray shade and maybe incorporate that somewhat into the existing structure. Right now, the colors only match to a limited extent. Of course, a wood cladding or another type of cladding could work well, but then you would definitely run into issues with the window.
The brown of the windows could theoretically be a unifying element, but painting the extension brown? I don’t think that would be ideal either.
